The initial lot of brand new TT roadsters have rolled off the assembly lines at Audi’s new manufacturing facility in Hungary. The rollout ceremony was held in the presence of Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG and Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orban. After the A3 Sedan, A3 cabriolet and the TT coupe, this is the fourth Audi model to go into series production at the new manufacturing facility.
The new TT roadster features an electric folding fabric roof which can either be put up or down in10 seconds at speeds of up to 50kmph. Under the hood, there’s a choice of three different engines. First up is the 2-litre TFSI petrol engine developing 230bhp of power and 370Nm of torque, while the 2-litre TDI engine puts out 184bhp of power and 380Nm of torque.
Representing the hottest form of this new version is the TT S which has the same 2-litre TFSI petrol motor although the power output is raised to 310bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. The TT S can hit 100kmph from standstill in 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
The latest-generation TT coupe and roadster models are now on sale in select European markets. While the latter is unlikely to make it to the Indian market, the coupe model has been continuously spotted in Mumbai since a long time, suggesting that the official launch is imminent.
