>Audi SQ8 rumoured to also get a petrol motor
>Expected to hit roads around the world this December
We’ve already covered Audi’s intent when our spy photographers brought you un-camouflaged images of an SQ8 testing in mid-June.
However, reports now claim that the SQ8 (a sportier version of the recently unveiled Q8) may debut in December 2018. This essentially puts the Q8 on the spotlight, and hence can be expected as early as September 2018. Also, sources earlier claimed that the SQ8 will only be powered by a diesel hybrid power-plant, but reports now state otherwise.
Fresh rumours highlight Audi’s plans to offer the SQ8 with a petrol 3.0-litre V6 motor for those markets which believe petrol-power is the way to go for sportier models. And we have to admit that we can’t think otherwise! Now, for those markets where diesel-power is still preferred (read Europe), Audi will use its 4.0-litre V8 diesel that currently does duty in the Bentayga diesel (429bhp/900Nm).
There’s also talk that the RS Q8, another addition to the Q8 family, will use a tweaked version of VW group’s V8 motor. It will be none-other than Porsche’s Turbo S E-Hybrid’s electrified V8 power-plant, which makes an astounding 670bhp. More on this in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
