The high-performance version of Audi’s seven-seater SUV – the SQ7 was spotted testing in India. Featuring a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine which makes it the most powerful diesel SUV in the world, the SQ7 is expected to be launched here by the end of this year.
The Audi SQ7 test mule has been photographed on Indian soil for the first time. A left-hand-drive model, this test mule looks identical to the regular Q7, although the revised grille and fascia, and the 20-inch wheels give away its true identity. Under the hood is a V8 diesel engine which develops 435bhp of power and 900Nm of torque. It gets an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox sending power to all four wheels through a Quattro system. Audi also offers a ‘Dynamic’ package that includes a sports differential, all-wheel steering and an electro-mechanical stabiliser unit.
While the SQ7 has been on sale globally for quite some time now, we can now expect the Indian market to get it in the next few months. Expect it to be priced between Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.2 crore, which would make it share the market space with the likes of the Volvo XC90, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mercedes-Benz GLS and the BMW X5.
