Audi Sport’s top executive told reporters of their intent to double the RS range by the year 2018.
According to the report, head of the German marque’s performance sub-brand; Stephan Winkelmann (former boss of Lamborghini), said the brand’s current fleet of RS-badged models will expand from seven to 15 over the next year.
While Audi Sport’s RS range includes the RS3, RS Q3, TT RS, RS6 and RS7 as of now, RS versions of the new-generation A4 and A5 models would also considered. Furthermore, the brand may also begin to take the AMG approach by offering high performance flagship variants of almost every model in the fleet, and this could mean an RS8, RSQ2 and RSQ7, to name a few.
So far, Audi Sport has launched the 2.5-litre turbo TT RS (coupe and roadster) this year, and revealed the RS3 saloon at the Paris Motor Show. Winkelmann said, “We have a lot of plans but are not revealing them yet. It is better to under-promise and over-deliver.”
We shall bring you the details on any new models the RS range comes up with in the time to come, so stay tuned.
