Audi has sold 11,292 units in the period April 2014 to March 2015 as compared to 10,126 units in the period April 2013 to March 2014 registering a growth of 11.51 per cent. This has allowed it to trump its nearest rival Mercedes-Benz by a decent margin and take top spot among the luxury car manufacturers in India.
2014 was a relatively subdued year for the German manufacturer as it launched only one major vehicle, the A3 sedan, for the Indian market, it began 2015 by launching the R8 LMX as well as opening showrooms Guwahati, Ranchi and Bengaluru along with a second service facility in Kolkata.
Commenting on the achievement, Joe King, Head, Audi India, said “We are very happy to retain the leadership position in the luxury car market for two consecutive years despite having only one major launch (Audi A3) in the last fiscal year. This clearly demonstrates the strength of the brand. We are now looking forward to an exciting 2015 with 10 new models including the Audi TT and new Audi Q3 coming up.”
