Audi has launched the S6 premium sedan in India for Rs 85.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) during an event at the Buddh International Circuit near New Delhi. The S6 is the sportier sibling of the A6 sedan and is the second high performance vehicle as well as the second S badged vehicle from the German automaker for the Indian market. It had launched the 2013 RS5 Coupe on the second of July.
The Audi S6 is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 petrol mill that produces 420PS and 550Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via the seven-speed S-Tronic DSG and Audi’s very own Quattro four-wheel drive system. 0-100kmph takes 4.8 seconds and the car will go on to hit the restricted top speed of 250kmph. The efficiency is also contributed to by technology like low engine friction and cylinder deactivation. To distinguish the S6 from its less sporty cousin, it gets aluminium mirror housings, large wheels, quad exhausts, boot lip spoiler and discreet badging front and rear.
The Audi S6 in India competes with the soon to be launched 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG sedan.
