Just a few days after the standard A5 was spied in Europe, the performance-focussed version of the sedan – the Audi S5, has been spotted undergoing trials at the Nurburgring circuit, in Germany.
Aesthetically, the Audi S5 gets a wide body kit and aggressive bumpers to set it apart from the standard A5 sedan. It also gets restyled aerodynamic mirrors, alloys wheels, quad exhaust pipes at the rear and a host of ‘S’ badgings, all around. The Audi S5, like the A5, is based on the MLB Evo platform, which has helped the car shed weight by 100 kilograms, which should translate into better performance. The S5 will be offered with two powertrain options – a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI petrol and for the first time, a twin-turbocharged diesel engine.
Going by the rate at which Audi has been expanding its range in India, we can safely expect the German manufacturer to eventually introduce this sedan in India, a few months after its global launch. The new Audi S5 is expected to be unveiled during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, along with the A5 and the RS5.
