This Geneva Motor Show it seems to be all about open top experience and it seems McLaren with their 650S and Ferrari with the California T are not the only ones. Audi, too, has dropped the top of its high-performance S3. The brand, in fact, has revealed the S3 cabriolet at the ongoing 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Like the standard model, the S3 cabriolet distinguishes itself from the rest of the A3 range with the help of a few cosmetic enhancements like a sportier grille, faux aluminum trim and honeycomb mesh bits at the front. At the rear, Audi is offering a rather smart looking boot spoiler and a diffuser. Further raising the stylish quotient are the quad tail pipes and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
The S3 Cabriolet is powered by the 2-litre TFSI four-cylinder petrol engine. Putting out 300hp and 380Nm of torque, this engine is mate to Audi’s S-Tronic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel- drive system. The end result is a zero to 100kmph sprint time of just 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 250kmph.
While it’s good that the S3 will join the rest of the A3 range in the European markets, Audi India is still working on bringing in the regular A3 sedan on which the former is based. The car has been spotted on test quite a few times as a near-production trim, suggesting that the company may well be able to launch it anytime soon.
