For all those who are excited about the Mercedes S-Class launch on January 8, 2014, we have another news to add to your excitement! Audi India will be launching the RS7 Sportback in India on January 6. Though the media invite did not make any mention of the car to be launched, the automaker has confirmed the sporty sedan launch while mentioning it on their official Facebook page.
The new RS7 is the most powerful Audi and is a high-performance variant of the A7 Sportback. Though based on the Audi A7, the new sedan has abundant changes on the outside to make it sportier than the outgoing four-door sedan. It is packed with several features inside to make the passengers comfortable and keep them entertained. What makes the RS7 stand apart from the outgoing models is the mill that lies under the hood.
The Audi RS7 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged TFSI V8 engine that churns out 560bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and power is delivered to all the wheels via the Quattro four-wheel-drive system. The car is capable of doing the 0 to 100kmph run in 3.9 seconds and the company claims that the vehicle can do a top whack of 250kmph which is electrically limited. A highlight of the new car, apart from the start-stop function, is the cylinder deactivation feature which the automaker claims to boost the fuel economy as much as 20 per cent by shutting off four cylinders under low engine load.
The new Audi RS7 is expected to be priced at Rs 1.3 crore (Ex-showroom-New Delhi). It will go against the other powerful sedan cars available in India like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 AMG.
