Audi has rolled out a special edition of the Q3 in the UK. The brand has launched the popular Black Edition specification previously seen in the A4 and the A6. For the Q3, this sharper looking and better equipped version will be available in the UK later this month.
The Q3 Black Edition replaces the S line plus version and features a Bose sound system upgrade but its key point of differentiation is of course the distinctive black treatment for many of its parts. These start in the cabin with piano black inlays and continue outside to take in everything from the 19-inch alloy wheels and single frame grille surround to the roof rails, rear spoiler and tailpipes, all of which are finished in gloss black.
Under the skin, the revised Q3 range can be had in two TDI diesel and two TFSI petrol engines. The 1.4-litre TFSI brings 150bhp and the option of either manual or S tronic twin-clutch automatic transmission. It gives the front-wheel-driven Q3 1.4 TFSI a 0-100kmph sprint time of 8.9 seconds (S tronic). Above it in the petrol line-up is a 2-litre TFSI unit with 180bhp which can be linked to either manual or S tronic transmission and works with quattro all-wheel-drive.
Forming the diesel range are two four-cylinder, 2-litre TDIs with outputs of 150bhp and 184bhp. The 150bhp version is front wheel drive and comes paired to either manual or S tronic transmission, whereas the 184bhp version has quattro drive.
Deliveries for the Q3 Black Edition and the revised range are due in the UK by the end of the year. Interestingly, Audi India also recently launched a limited edition of the India-spec Q3. Labelled Q3 Dynamic Edition, only 101 units are available for sale across India.
