Audi fans can rejoice, the company will display its motorsports pride the 2012 24 Hours Le Mans winner the Audi R18 e-tron quattro at the Auto Expo.
The R18 is the successor of the R15 TDI, and was introduced in 2011, whereas the R18 e-tron quattro is a hybrid version of the R18 ultra which was the 2012 R18. The sports car uses a Williams Hybrid Power designed flywheel accumulator system to store energy which delivers 500 kJ to the front wheels through an electric motor, giving the car four (quattro) wheel drive. This system, as per the regulations, kicks in only at speeds beyond 120 km/h (75 mph). It comes fitted with a smaller 58-litre fuel tank as compared to 65 for the R18.
The R18 e-tron has six automatic modes at the disposal of the driver, on the steering wheel. The modes manage engine mapping, short bursts accelerating from corners, quattro four-wheel-drive, wet weather, etc.
The Audi R18 e-tron will mark its presence at the Auto Expo and will share the stall with other exciting models from the German manufacturer.
