Back in January this year, German car manufacturer Audi showcased the Q8 concept at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. This time around, the vehicle has been spotted on test in India ahead of its official global launch in 2018. Most of the design elements are carried forward from the concept model and combines a fine balance of an SUV body style with a coupe-lie tapering roofline.
The engine specification is not known for now and it might get the conventional petrol or diesel engine options. This time around we might also get a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a lithium-ion battery. The engine is expected to come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s signature Quattro four-wheel drive tech. Reports indicate that the vehicle might also get electric turbocharging, which will be supported by the Q8s 48V electrical system. The upcoming model is expected to be limited to a five-seat option in India while the top-spec model in international market might also get it in four seats option.
Based on what can be seen, the new Q8 gets a large octagonal grille and Matrix laser tech with Audi LED DRLs which also functions as dynamic turn indicators. The vehicle appears to be quite large and it gets large alloy wheels finished in gloss-black which is borrowed from the Q8 Sport concept that was revealed at the Geneva motor show earlier this year. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
