Customers in China don’t just love cars with premium badges, but also prefer them with a roomy interior. Audi recently unveiled just the right product for these clientele in the form of the long-wheelbase version of the Q5 at the Beijing motor show. Let's go through the details of the German carmaker's first stretched SUV.
The Q5L is based on the standard Q5 SUV, but with a wheelbase extended by 88mm. This has resulted in 110mm of more knee room, while the boot space remains unchanged at 550 to 1,550 litres.
The car can be had in a choice of different specs including Lifestyle, Vogue, Design, Sport and Sport Plus. This largely depends on the engine configuration one opts for.
Audi is offering a four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-litre TFSI mill producing either 190bhp or 252bhp. It’s capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 8.6 or 6.7 seconds respectively.
This engine comes mated to a seven-speed S-tronic gearbox featuring Audi drive select functions. This includes comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual.
Wheel sizes for the Audi Q5L range from 18 to 20 inches in diameter. Meanwhile, a panoramic glass roof is standard with the Lifestyle trim getting LED headlamps as an option.
The SUV scores high on safety functions with Audi's pre sense basic and pre sense city safety systems as standard. Customers can also opt for other optional assistance packages.
