Audi India launched the new-gen Q5 45 TFSI in India for the price of Rs 55.27 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new-gen Q5 carries forward the characteristic styling of the SUV with added design elements seen on modern Audis. The new grille, sharp body creases, and LED lights are all similar to the bigger Q7. Yet they have a distinctive appeal in the Q5. It measures 4,663x1,898x1,659mm and sits on 18-inch wheels as standard.
Audi has provided its mid-level executive SUV with a long list of features. It includes panoramic sunroof, electric and heated exterior mirrors, three-zone climate control, four way lumbar support seats with memory function, electric tailgate, leather upholstery. Behind the multifunction steering wheel is Audi’s Virtual Cockpit instrument panel while the centre console gets MMI infotainment system with control touchpad. The 8.3-inch MMI screen comes with navigation, smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, and voice commands.
Safety wise, there are eight airbags, ABS with EBD, TPMS, and engine immobilizer. Being an executive SUV, the driver’s aids include hill descent control, cruise control, auto hold function, rear parking camera with sensors and Audi Drive Select.
Under the hood is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TFSI engine producing 250bhp of power and 370Nm of twisting force. It’s mated to a seven-speed S-tronic automatic transmission sending power to quattro all-wheel-drive system. The Q5 is capable of hitting a top speed of 237kmph and can do 0-100kmph in 6.3seconds. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figures are 12.44kmpl.
Audi introduced the Q5 TFSI in two variants - Premium Plus and Technology. Both TFSI variants are priced exactly the same as the TDI diesel variants, which were already on sale in India. At this price point, the other SUVs available are it’s direct rivals which include BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Lexus NX, Volvo XC60 and the Jaguar F-Pace. However, the latter two are only available with diesel powerplants. The Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport are also other British SUVs one can look at. Other mid-level executive sedans are also available such as 5 Series, E-Class and A6. Apart from these, the BMW 6 Series GT gran tourer, the Jeep Wrangler rugged off-roader, Lexus ES hybrid sedan, and Audi A5 Sportback are some stand-out cars you can buy for the price of the Q5 petrol.
