- The Sportback is the coupe-SUV version of the Q3.
- A fully-blown RS Q3 Sportback is also in works.
- Might also come to India after the new-gen Q3.
Audi has taken the wraps off the all-new Q3 Sportback as the newest coupe-SUV in the line-up. Earlier rumoured to be called the Q4, the Q3 Sportback retains all the design elements, features and engines from the standard Q3.
As is the case with the gen-Q,3, the Sportback too bears the same set of headlights flanking the cascading grille upfront. Audi claims that the Sportback is slightly longer and sits lower than the standard car. For that reason, the shoulder crease running along the side appears more pronounced while the sloping roof makes it more appealing, compared to the Q3. The high placed tail lamps on the raked windscreen are more or less the same as the standard Q3. So are the rear bumpers, but there are sporty diffusers at the back adding to the coupe-SUV’s sporty appeal.
The cabin, on the other hand, remains unchanged. So you get the all-digital instrument cluster combined with a large infotainment screen on the centre console. High-quality material is seen all around the cabin. And even with the sloping roof, the rear bench appears to have a decent amount of space.
Under the hood, the Q3 Sportback gets the same set of engine options as the car it is based upon. This includes the 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.0-litre diesel making 225bhp and 185bhp, respectively. The smaller 1.5-litre diesel is also on offer with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. All engines are mated to Audi’s seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission. Meanwhile, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system can be had with the range-topping variants only. Audi is already prepping a fully-blown RS Q3 Sportback which is expected to be revealed later this year.
The all-new Audi Q3 Sportback has already gone on sale in the international markets. We expect it to make its way to our shores as well, alongside the new Q3. When it arrives sometime in 2020, the Q3 Sportback will rival the BMW X4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.
