The Audi Q3 S Edition was launched yesterday for Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and has already got 125 bookings in a single day. At this rate it is likely to beat even its four-wheel drive sibling which got over 500 bookings within five days of being launched. It is believed that the innovative online booking procedure introduced by the German auto maker has helped them achieve this number.
The Audi Q3 S Edition is low cost version of the compact hatchback and has been stripped of a few major features which includes the Quattro four-wheel drive system and trademarked Audi daytime LEDs. It will be continue to be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel mill but has now been tuned to produce 142PS and 320Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. 0-100kmph is achieved in 9.9 seconds with an ARAI fuel efficiency of 17.71kmpl.
On the outside, the Q3 S Edition gets standard alloy wheels, single frame grille and standard bumpers from the regular Q3. Inside it remains the same as the standard cars. Features include leather seats, six airbags, and rear parking sensors, cruise control, optional off road package and multimedia unit with voice control.
This kind of figure should indicate that Audi is not yet out of the number game among the luxury car manufacturers and may even push down the recently re-crowned Mercedes-Benz. The Stuttgart based manufacturer had recently announced that it was the highest selling luxury manufacturer, no doubt thanks to the sales of the A-Class hatchback but may now face heavy competition once again.
