According to a recent report by Auto Bild, the Audi Q1 will go on sale in Europe in 2016. Currently under development, this upcoming model will be Audi’s most affordable crossover when it hits the showrooms.
The entry-level variants of the Q1 will be priced around €25,000 (Rs 19.67 lakh). The existing Q3, in comparison, starts at €29,600 (Rs 23.29 lakh) in Germany. While the former is based on the A3 platform, it will almost match the Q3 in terms of overall dimensions.
The Q1, as expected, will be offered with a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options. The crossover is likely to feature either a 1.4, 1.8, 2-litre petrol and a 2-litre diesel engine. The report also talks about the SQ1 which could represent a high performance version of the crossover.
Given the rising demand for premium crossovers among Indian buyers, the Q1 could be on the cards. Audi could introduce it here in the Indian market to slot it below the A3 which is currently the most affordable Audi one can buy.
