Audi has unveiled the Prologue Allroad Concept ahead of the car’s maiden public appearance at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. This car is the third iteration of the Prologue concept cars, which was first kicked off with the Prologue Avant Concept estate at last year’s LA Auto Show.
Painted in a dehua white paint scheme, the Prologue Allroad Concept gets a long bonnet and a flowing roofline that drops past the flat D-pillars, emphasising the car’s estate-ish looks. The front is dominated by a wide singleframe grille which shares the space with Matrix laser headlamps. The Prologue Allroad Concept is powered by a twin-turbochargered 4.0-litre V8 TFSI engine which in conjunction with an electric motor produces a jaw-dropping 734bhp and 900Nm of torque. The engine sends power to all four wheels through a quattro all-wheel drive and is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission.
This kind of power is enough to propel the Prologue Allroad Concept from standstill to 100kmph in just 3.5 seconds, while returning an astonishing 41.6kmpl. The 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery is mounted in the back of the car and offers a pure electric range of 54 kilometres. The Prologue Allroad Concept comes with weight-saving carbon ceramic brakes and an adaptive air suspension setup. This hybrid powertrain from this Prologue Allroad Concept will not only be used in Audi cars, but also in the next-gen Cayenne and the upcoming Bentley Bentayga.
The Prologue concept cars mark an important milestone as they give us a peek at the German manufacturer’s plans for its future range of cars. The Prologue Allroad Concept is a predecessor of the next generation Audi A6, which will be globally introduced in 2018.
