Audi might introduce the second-gen Audi Q7 e-tron plug-in hybrid version along with the standard models in 2015, says a publication. This variant will be equipped with a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine working in tandem with an electric motor and a 10.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
This model might have a combined power output of 421bhp of which the conventional engine pushes out 328bhp and the electric motor, 93bhp with a total torque rating in the range of 590Nm. It seems like the upcoming Audi would be using a setup similar to the Cayenne S E-Hybrid. The new Audi Q7 might have performance figures better than the Cayenne considering it will be based on the new MLB Evo platform and is expected to be 363 kg lighter.
These are still early days to predict the introduction of this model, but expect it to be unveiled at the 2015 NAIAS. We expect the new Audi Q7 to be introduced in India by late 2015 or early 2016; it might also be the first production vehicle to use an electric turbocharger unless some manufacturer decides to spoil Audi’s party.
