Audi may launch a two-wheel drive variant of its Q3 crossover. This will be the German automaker’s entry into the affordable luxury car segment that is populated by vehicles like the recently launched A-Class hatchback and the soon to be launched BMW 1-Series and Volvo V40 Cross Country.
A test car has been spotted in Mumbai by the team at Autocar India. The test vehicle looks like the standard vehicle but is missing the Quattro badge and has slightly lower spec alloy wheels. Audi already offers a base grade variant of the Q3 that has features like partial leather upholstery, 16-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights in place of Xenon lamps and LED tailights as well as standard AC. This grade is expected to offered in the two-wheel drive Q3. The report suggests that the car will be locally assembled at Audi’s Aurangabad facility; a step that we believe is long overdue.
The front-wheel drive Q3 is expected to use the 2.0-litre diesel that produces 175PS and 380Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed automatic in the quattro variants and this is expected to continue even for the base model. Audi is likely to price this vehicle at least four to five lakhs lower than the quattro spec version.
Meanwhile Audi is celebrating the anniversary of one of its most popular SUVs - Audi Q3 with an innovative and special finance offer on the first 100 units to be booked starting from June 3. The scheme offers customers an opportunity to buy the Q3 at monthly instalments of Rs 35,400 onwards and a down payment of Rs six lakh.
