Audi has launched the new version of the mid size SUV Q5 at the Beijing Auto show, five years after the world debut of the Q5. The 2013 Q5 sports new front and rear bumpers, aggressive lines, new headlights and tail-lamps and a new 6-point front grille. The interior styling is also revamped. The Q5 is expected to carry new engines that are more powerful as well as efficient. The 3.2 Litre petrol V6 is going to be replaced with the 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engine.
Built on the same MLP (Modular longitudinal Platform) as the Porsche Macan, the Audi is expected to go on sale before the Porsche. Audi have also confirmed a hybrid variant for the US market, powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine and a 1.3 Kwh (54 bhp) electric motor working in tandem.
The new Audi can be expected to enter the Indian market soon after it is available for sales globally, probably after the Paris Auto show. The Q5 has been a success in the Indian market, and will try to strengthen its hold in the mid-size SUV segment.
