Audi India will launch the R8 V10 Plus on April 4. The 2013 R8 supercar was launched for the Indian market around a month-and-a-half ago but at that time, the top-of-the-line R8 V10 Plus was included in the line-up.
The Audi R8 V10 Plus is powered by the same 5.2-litre Lamborghini sourced V10 engine but now tuned to produced 550bhp instead of the standard engines 525bhp. The torque also goes up from the previous 510bhp to 540bhp. Power is now transmitted to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox and the German carmakers patented Quattro four-wheel drive system.
The R8 V10 thanks to the engine changes will now do 0-100kmph in 3.5 seconds and hit a top-speed of 317kmph, an increase of three kmph over the standard engine. It is now the fastest production car among Audi’s current line-up of vehicles.
In terms of changes to the body, the V10 Plus gets a redesigned bumper and now many of the body parts have been made of carbonfibre, making the car significantly lighter. The interiors get the same features as the top-end spec standard car but now with a space behind the seats to store small items.
The launch is likely to take place at the Buddh International Circuit; however the German automaker has not given any hint on the pricing and will most likely set a price based on the revised duties for imported cars that was given during the 2013 Union Budget.
