Audi has announced a revision in car prices following implementation of GST (Goods & Services Tax) regime with effect from 1 July 2017. Prices of many car have reduced, but a few cars have also gotten a little expensive.
The quantum of reduction/increment in prices varies from model to model, with most cars getting a price cut. The Audi A3 sedan now starts at Rs 30.77 lakhs with the top-of-the-line costing Cabriolet going up to Rs 48.52 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Audi A4 sedan is priced between Rs 38.4 lakhs to Rs 42.66 lakhs. In comparison to older prices, there is not much of a difference even though prices have reduced for the top-end trims. The same is the case with the A6 and A8 luxury sedans.
On the other hand, the prices of SUVs have seen reduction anywhere between Rs 48,000- Rs 3.11 lakh. The entry-level Q3 SUV now ranges from Rs 32.48 lakhs to Rs 40.60 lakhs, when it earlier was priced from Rs 32.21 lakhs to Rs 41.2 lakhs. The Q7 also gets a price cut as the 45 TDI Premium Plus costs Rs 70.12 lakhs as against the previous price of Rs 72.9 lakhs. The new price of the Q7's Technology Pack is Rs 77.84 lakhs, lower than the pre-GST price of Rs 80.95 lakhs. Audi hasn't mentioned the Q5 SUV's prices as we can expect the new-gen Q5 to be launched in India soon.
Earlier, Audi had slashed prices of vehicles and offered various finance and insurance schemes to lure in new buyers. And now, even if the manufacturer has announced that it would pass the benefit of GST to its customers, it should be noted that the actual benefit will vary from state to state.
