- The coupe version of the E-Tron SUV will break cover on 19 November
- Should be powered by the same powertrain as the standard model
Audi made it clear about their intentions of making different versions of the E-Tron at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year by showcasing the Q4 E-Tron Concept. That concept also gave us a confirmation about the coupe-SUV version of the Q3, which is now called the Q3 Sportback. Now, a near production-ready version of the E-Tron Sportback – the coupe-SUV version of the E-Tron – was recently spotted testing sans any camouflage.
The E-Tron Sportback prototype can be seen with its sloping roofline and the optional side cameras replacing the conventional mirrors. Weirdly though, the roofline ends in a boot deck which looks quirky rather than handsome. The test vehicle was in a right-hand-drive configuration. At the back, the tailgate still retains some duct tapes hiding the LED taillight running across the newly designed rear. We expect it to be akin to the one seen on the A7 Sportback or the Q3 Sportback.
Under the skin, things will remain more or less unchanged over the standard E-Tron. So we could expect a 400bhp and 660Nm of power output from the twin-motor setup. However, we could even see a bump in these figures given that the Sportback will be positioned as a slightly sportier version of the electric SUV. The car will come equipped with a 150kW fast charging facility as well.
We expect the new Audi E-Tron Sportback to be revealed to the world sooner rather than later, perhaps at the upcoming 2019 Los Angeles Motor Show. It will hit the streets sometime in 2020 after which we could expect it to make its way to India as well.
