An all-electric crossover concept with a potential driving range of nearly 500 kilometres will be one of the stars on Audi’s show floor at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Called e-tron quattro, Audi says it has developed this new concept using developments from the forthcoming R8 e-tron.
Audi has even revealed that the production-spec model will be the first large series electric car from the brand when it enters production in 2018.
The e-tron quattro concept has been designed from ground up as an electric car. Audi has concentrated particularly on aerodynamic efficiency which is why the concept features movable aerodynamic elements at the front, on the sides and at the rear improve to improve air flow around the car.
The e-tron concept uses three electric motors, one on the front axle and two on the rear. With its length right in between that of the Q5 and the Q7, there’s a very good chance of this concept spawning the forthcoming Q6 crossover.
The e-tron quattro concept will make its public debut at the next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The production model, on the other hand, will be launched globally sometime in 2018.
