Michael Perschke, 42, has been appointed as Head of Audi India effective July 1st, 2010. Perschke, a German citizen, married, with a daughter, has an international education in business administration and economics from Germany and London.
His work experience with different brands in Europe and Asia include three years in India from 1997 to 2000 as General Manager for Mercedes-Benz, where his responsibilities at that time also included network development and regional sales in the subcontinent.
Perschke joined the Volkswagen Group in 2004 with the responsibility of steering National Sales Companies and developing wholesale strategy.
He began in Audi AG from 2008 where he is till date, in charge of European Service Network Project with the target to improve service network quality and develop European network quality standards.
He will take over from Benoit Tiers (being promoted to Head of Audi in France) who started all India operations for Audi in the country early 2007. Under his governance, Audi successfully established its retail and service organizations, a full dealer network and started the local assembly of the Audi A4 and Audi A6.
Asked what he liked best about Audi, Perschke replied “I am from Bavaria and my family owned Audi cars while I was growing up.†He also added “Audi is a young and sporty brand renowned for its design, sophistication and technology. The car is associated with winners and it is always good to back a winner.â€
