Audi and Fiat seem to have got involved in a bit of a name-calling problem. No, no one called any one names, rather, the two companies are fighting for what to name their cars. Fiat and Audi are demanding the badge names Q2 and Q4 for their respective products.
In a bid to expand its line-up of SUVs, Audi wants the rights to every increment between Q1 and Q7. Fiat, on the other hand, wants Q2 and Q4, used on the 2005-11 Alfa Romeo 159 sedan. In that line-up, Q2 was used on models that included an electronic limited-slip differential, while Q4 models came equipped with all-wheel-drive.
However, Alfa Romeo is holding tightly onto their badges even though it no longer uses them. The same report implies that Fiat-Chrysler head honcho Sergio Marchionne is holding onto them to gain the upper hand with Volkswagen.
“In an ideal world, Q1 would be reserved for an even smaller crossover derived from the next A1. The Q4 suffix would come handy to fill the void between Q3 and Q5,” a source from Ingolstadt told CAR Magazine.
So will Audi let go without a fight? We shall wait for further development on this news.
