Audi has just updated the A8 luxury sedan for 2015. The German carmaker’s flagship offering now not only features more equipment but also greener engines, making it kinder to the environment. Offered in standard or long-wheelbase versions, the latest A8 range is now on sale in certain parts of Europe.
The long wheelbase versions will continue to be available with the petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain and with Audi’s quintessential power source – the 6.3-litre, 500bhp W12 engine. Another high performance petrol engine – the 4-litre TFSI unit is reserved for the 520bhp S8 model.
As for the more sensible diesel options, Audi says the 3-litre V6 TDI benefits from a slight power increase from 258bhp to 262bhp and a further reduction in CO2 output from 155g/km to 149g/km. The 4.2-litre V8 TDI, meanwhile, retains its 385bhp and 850Nm of torque although CO2 output in this version also falls from 194g/km to 189g/km.
While the updated A8 range is now on sale in Europe, there is still some time before the Indian market benefits from these updates. We will have to wait for Audi India’s official word on the introduction of the updated A8 for India.
