The new Audi A8 was spotted testing just outside Mumbai. The test mule had no camouflage, and was a right-hand drive car, which leads us to believe that it is part of the India-bound A8 range.
The new A8 is a completely new generation car and the styling, though evolutionary, points to the fact that it is a completely new car. The headlamp design is new, and the tail lamp with its light bar that runs from end to end is the biggest visual clue to it being new.
The A8 will be available in long-wheelbase form, and will have one petrol and one diesel engine to start with. The diesel powertrain will be similar to the 3.0-litre V6 that the Q7 has, while the petrol will also be a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine. As always, we can expect ‘Quattro’ all-wheel drive to be standard. A 12-cylinder W12 model will also be introduced as a halo model. The Indian launch is expected to happen in early 2018.
