Audi has launched a petrol version of the A6 sedan for the Indian market and has priced it at Rs 52.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Dubbed the A6 Matrix 35 TFSI, it is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 190bhp and 320Nm of torque with power going to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT.
It gets the same features as the diesel model which includes the matrix headlamps, latest MMI system, eight airbags and 14-speaker Bose surround sound system. In terms of external appearance, the A6 petrol is exactly the same as the diesel model save for the change in badging at the rear.
When Audi launched the A6 in 2015, it offered the car only with a diesel engine. Now, aided by a change in consumer preferences, the petrol option has been launched. This move also comes in response to BMW relaunching a petrol option for the 5 Series range (520i) as well as Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 and Jaguar XF petrol 2.0-litre both of which have been on sale for a while now. All three cars have a similar feature list but varying prices. The A6 slots in between the E200 and the 520i in this regard.
Commenting on the launch of the A6 Matrix 35 TFSI, Joe King, head of Audi India said, “We had launched the new Audi A6 last year and received an overwhelming response from the customers. To build on this success, we are launching the new Audi A6 Matrix 35 TFSI with Audi’s new design language and enhanced equipment level. With the Audi A6 Matrix 35 TFSI, we want to reach out to India’s smart luxury car buyers and also cater to customers who want a fully equipped car in petrol.”
