Audi has imported the upcoming A5 and S5 Sportback to India for homologation. This is just weeks before the global debut of these models.
Both the A5 and S5 Sportback are due for an official unveiling, which is scheduled next month at the Paris Motor Show. So, while we get an official word from Audi, we took a look at the import data. It shows that the carmaker’s Indian counterpart has brought the 35 TDI version of the A5. This comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel mill, good to churn out 187bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. On the transmission front, this engine comes mated to a seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox.
The report also shows that Audi has imported the S5 Sportback as well. This is based on the A5, but is a sportier and more powerful car. Under its hood is a 3.0-litre V6 mill that comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. With a power output rated at 349bhp of power and 500Nm of torque, the car does the 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.
All the intricate details will be available next month, when the cars are officially revealed. However, with the cars already imported to India, we can be sure that the carmaker wants to launch these models for the Indian market as soon as possible.
