Audi has revealed the latest-gen A4 in long-wheelbase guise at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. Designed specifically for the Chinese market, it’s called the A4 L and it is 4.81m long (40mm longer than the previous China-only A4 L) to offer more legroom and comfort at the back for the chauffeur-driven crowd.
The A4 L can be had in either of the two petrol engine options, both 2-litre TFSI motors but with different tunes. There’s the 190bhp version or the more powerful 250bhp version, both paired to Audi's 7-speed S-tronic gearbox.
Chinese premium car buyers are known for prioritising rear seat space and comfort above all else. This also explains how long wheelbase versions, over the years, have become so popular in China. Besides the A4 L, this year’s Beijing Motor Show has also hosted public debuts of long-wheelbase versions of the BMW X1, the Mercedes E-Class and the Jaguar XF.
