Post much wait, Audi has finally launched the A4 35TDI in India at Rs 40.20 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle does not get any major design changes and resembles the petrol version of the new Audi A4. The new model will emerge as a strong competitor against popular names like BMW 320d and the Mercedes C 220 d.
This time around Audi‘s popular seller A4 gets a 2.0 TDI engine which generates 188bhp and 400Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission which enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 – 100kmph in 7.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 237kmph. ARAI figures indicate that the diesel version returns a fuel efficiency figure of 18.25kmpl. In terms of safety, the new model comes loaded with eight-airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and Audi parking Aid Plus with a rear view camera. The new diesel A4 sits on 17-inch Tornado design alloy wheels and four driving options - Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual.
Inside, the new Audi A4 diesel 35TDI gets premium upholstery, LED interior lighting, three zone automatic air conditioning and spacious interior. The conventional instrument cluster has been replaced by a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display with display modes that supports MMI Navigation Plus, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless charging, 180 watt Audi 10 speaker sound system and more.
The exterior of the Audi A4 diesel caries forth design upgrades from its petrol sibling. The vehicle gets LED headlamps with rear dynamic turn indicators. The automaker claims that the new model is about 120kgs lighter than its predecessor, which further goes on to offer 7 per cent boost in power as well as fuel efficiency figures. Owing to addition of a diesel variant, Audi can further expect to see strong growth in terms of overall sales amid competition.
