Audi has released a teaser image of its India-bound A3 sedan which it will debut at the 2013 New York Show on March 27. The German automaker has launched a video channel called Audi Media TV which will have various teasers and previews of the car until the 27th. The Audi A3 was first shown as a concept car at 2011 Geneva Auto Show and has now been pitted as a rival for recently launched the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan.
A report from WorldcarFans suggests that the Ingolstadt based automaker will make use of parent company VWs MQB platform to underpin the car. It is expected to be 4.4 meters long, 1.8 meters wide and 1.3 meters in height. The report also suggests that the car will use the same engines from the existing A3 hatchback. This means a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.8-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel mill in two states of tune (150bhp and 184bhp).
It is expected to share many components both inside and outside with the A3 hatchback. This car is sure to arrive in the Indian market sometime after its global launch and will sit below the A4 sedan. It is important for the Audi India as will give them a chance to enter the rapidly expanding sub Rs 25 lakh sedan market.
