Audi has updated its popular A3 range of cars for European markets. The range includes hatchback, sedan and the hot S3 models. Looking instantly recognizable, all the models feature a new front fascia with a revised grille and restyled headlights.
The A3 facelift also gets a new rear diffuser and modestly revised taillights. Other changes include an extended colour palette and optional matrix LED headlights. Inside, the interior largely carries over but Audi has revised the three-spoke steering wheel and upgraded the MMI infotainment system with simplified menus. The highlight, of course, is the 12.3-inch display (Audi’s virtual cockpit system) that is available as an optional extra.
Under the hood, a variety of different engines can be had with the new A3 range. A 1-litre 115bhp TFSI three-cylinder, a 150bhp 1.4-litre TFSI and a new 2-litre TFSI with 190bhp will form the petrol range. The diesel range, on the other hand, will include a 110bhp 1.6-litre TDI and a 2-litre TDI with outputs of 150bhp as well as 184bhp.
The new A3 range will go on sale next month in Europe. As for the Indian market, Audi India will bring the facelifted A3 in the more appealing sedan form sometime early next year. The car will continue to compete mainly with the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
