Audi A3 e-tron gets 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

European safety body Euro NCAP has awarded the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron the maximum 5-star rating for crash safety. This puts the plug-in hybrid model from Audi among the safest cars in its class. 

According to the test results, the e-tron plug-in hybrid earned top marks in protecting adults and children in a front, side or rear collision. The model also passed tests of pedestrian protection with good results. 

This year the Euro NCAP additionally tested assistance systems for the first time. Here the vehicle  managed to fulfil the stringent requirements thanks to systems like Audi pre sense and Audi active lane assist.

Thanks to the incredibly stringent European safety norms, even compact cars sold in Europe are now benefitting from safety features that were previously available only on bigger, much more expensive cars. Indian safety norms, in comparison, are nowhere as severe which makes it all the more easy to see why even the most modern of small cars sold in the Indian market are alarmingly unsafe.
