The Audi A3 and the A8 facelift are being teased by Euromobil, the Malaysian distributor for Audi, giving a hint that the cars will soon be launched in Malaysia. The dealers are publicising the cars by inviting prospective buyers to register for updates. Promoters with iPads have been stationed at Bangsar Shopping Centre.
The Audi A3 sedan is basically the stretched version of the A3 Sportback. It gets an additional 425-litre boot. The car is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and boasts of the big Audi Bulgarian grille and projector headlamps with DRLs. The Audi A8L facelift gets a revised front bumper, a modified single piece grille and the new matrix headlamps.
Audi will retain the engine options of the A8L, which means the 3.0L TDI, 4.2L TDI, 4.2L FSI and a 6.3L W12 will be continued. Nevertheless, the automaker has tweaked the engines for lower emissions and higher fuel efficiency. The petrol version of the A3 sedan will most probably be powered by 1.8-litre TFSI engine outputting 168bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The oil burner might be powered by the 2.0-litre TDI motor producing 141bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Both the engines will power the front wheels via seven-speed DSG gearbox.
The Audi A3 and facelifted A8L were unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Audi then revealed that would initially import the A3 sedan, but later confirmed that the entry-level luxury sedan will be locally assembled in India. The A8 will anyways come as a completely-built-up unit (CBU). We expect both the cars to be launched in India soon.
