Aston Martin revealed the Vantage GT3 at the Geneva Motor Show after which Porsche objected over the use of the GT3 moniker. Now, a report claims that the Vantage GT3 might be renamed following the fight with Porsche.
The source claims that lawyers of both the firms have been engaged in a fight over the GT3 name. Rumours indicate that Porsche claimed ownership of the GT3 moniker which Aston challenged that the GT3 moniker is name of a racing category. Aston also claimed that the GT3 name has also been used by other companies namely Bentley Continental GT3R and Lotus Espirit GT3.
It would be unfair to choose a side as both companies seem to be right, but it is cited that Aston didn’t want to continue the expensive legal battle. As a result, the beneficiary is Porsche, and Aston will have to rename the Vantage GT3 as Vantage GT12 claims the report.
