Aston Martin has issued a recall for 6,076 cars in the US for an issue regarding the locking of the vehicle doors. The issue affects the locking of doors which may lead to trapping of occupants inside the car if it is locked from outside. It affects Aston Martin cars produced between 2010 and 2016.
The locking mechanism may not allow occupants of the car to open the doors from inside when locked with the remote from outside the car which may lead to getting trapped inside the car. The double-locking mechanism was developed by Aston Martin as a security measure of their cars but has resulted in a potential hazard as per the American laws regarding occupant safety.
Aston Martin will re-programme the central locking mechanism at their dealerships free of cost. The affected models are the DB9 (2010-15), DBS (2010-12), Rapide & V8 Vantage (2010-16), Virage 2012, Vanquish (2014-16), V12 Vantage (2011-16) and V12 Zagato (2012-13). If you have any of these cars is India, it would be advisable to check at the nearest dealership if it is a part of the recall.
