- Only 25 models to be built
- Will be built exactly like the 1960s-spec car
Classic runs are becoming the new trend and now it is Aston Martin going at it. The British marque known for their famous Bond connection is reviving the most famous Bond-car, the DB5. However, only 25 examples of the DB5 will be recreated.
A price tag of 3.3 million dollars, approx. Rs 23 crore, might be nothing if you get to own a piece of Hollywood history which is also being regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever built. The Aston Martin DB5 was a sportscar of pedigree back then with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated straight-six cylinder petrol engine pumping out over 280bhp of power. With top speeds of over 230kmph back in the 60s, it was one of the fastest cars of its time.
The 25 models that are being recreated are exact replicas of the James Bond car which means it will be silver in colour, unless you specifically ask Aston Martin for a different hue. Although it is being said that it will have a few of the Bond gadgets, legalities will certainly play a role in their inclusion, especially for the number-plate switcher.
While the 1,000-odd units of the original DB5 saw quite a number of miles on the road before they got classified as classics, these modern recreations might never drive out of their climate-controlled garages!
