- Extensive options list with exceptional levels of customisation.
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera finally gets a drop-top Volante version, thus making it the fastest convertible in the company’s history. The DBS Superleggera Volante looks even more drop-dead gorgeous than the coupe sibling with its folding soft top which is also the most advanced soft-top the carmaker has ever produced.
The roof of the DBS Superleggera Volante comes with eight layers of insulation and the ability to fully open or close in just 14 seconds – either from inside the vehicle or externally via the remote. At VMAX, the Volante produces 177kg of downforce, just 3kg less than the coupe brethren. A revised iteration of the Aeroblade ll system continues to deliver additional downforce to the car's rear.
The rest remains unchanged when compared to the coupe, even the powertrain. So the DBS Superleggera Volante comes with same 5.2—litre V12 delivering 715bhp and 900Nm mated to a ZF-derived eight-speed transmission. Attaining 0-100kmph in just 3.6 seconds makes it just 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe and its top speed is 340kmph.
The DBS Superleggera Volante's hood is available in eight distinct colours including Bordeaux Red, Atlantic Blue and Titan Grey. The soft-top can be further personalised on the inside, with the addition of six Rokona headliners. For the first time on a Volante model, the window screen surround is available with a 2x2 twill carbon fibre finish, with the option to have the same theme on the tonneau cover. What’s more, large pieces of finely-woven carbon fibre pieces replace the leather covered trims and for the most exclusive specifications, tinted carbon fibre is available as well.
Deliveries of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is scheduled to begin during the third quarter of the year for a price tag 247,500 Pounds in the UK. When the new DBS Superleggera forays into India sometime later this year, the Volante should join it as well.
