After the Vulcan, Aston Martin wowed us with the AM-RB 001 concept. The hypercar has being built with Adrian Newey, Red Bull’s F1 team boss and it is no wonder that the outrageous AM-RB 001 looks like a Formula 1 car with clothes on.
While Aston Martin has been tight-lipped about the hypercar’s details, the top speed of 402kmph and a cornering ability of subjecting you to 4.5Gs of cornering force were let out to demonstrate its intent.
Chief designer of Aston Martin, Marek Reichman, has revealed more details about the AM-RB 001. In an interview with Motoring Australia, Reichman said that the hypercar will be built exactly like the concept except for the additions for engine cooling system and improved aerodynamics. It will get gullwing doors and the fixed driver seat customised for the owner. The wing mirrors will be replaced by cameras akin to the Mercedes Mirrorless concept.
What excites us is that the AM-RB 001 will get a brand new naturally aspirated V12. The displacement will range between six to seven litres and will have an angle wider than 60 degrees between the banks. All we know is that it will belt out 1000bhp of power and will be mated to a single clutch sequential Xtrac gearbox driving the right set of wheels. The wider layout will help lower the centre of mass and help it towards it target of cornering-Gs.
