British lightweight sports car firm Ariel has just diversified its Atom range of high-performance vehicles with the introduction of the Nomad. Based on the super quick Atom, the Nomad is a two seater performance off-roader which will officially hit the showrooms later this year.
The Nomad features a heavily strengthened chassis, improved ground clearance, long-travel springs and big off road tyres, compared to the standard Atom. It weighs just 670kilograms which is extremely light for a fast off-roader.
Power comes courtesy a 2.4-litre four cylinder Honda engine tweaked to deliver 235bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed close-ratio gearbox. Thanks to the impressive drive-train, the Nomad can accelerate from zero to 100kmph in 3.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 200kmph.
Ariel has announced that the Nomad will go on sale later this year with prices starting at £27,500 (Rs 26.39 lakh).
