Edit: Check Live updates from the Honda City launch event.
The information about the New 2014 Honda City variants have leaked on the webosphere ahead of its January 7 launch. The car is available with standard Honda nomenclature with additions of SV and VX variants.
According to a Facebook page named I.C.E, the Honda City will get five variants – E, S, SV, V and VX, the diesel gets ABS, EBD and a driver-side airbag as standard whereas the petrol gets the same features only on the higher trims. This clearly shows the emphasis is on diesel models.
The City with all the bells and whistles will be the pick of the variants with features like touchscreen controls for the air conditioner, Start-Stop button, chrome door handles, leather upholstery, sunroof and a smart key. The equipment on offer in the SV remains to be seen. Honda seems to have addressed most of the features that the current segment leader, the Hyundai Verna, offers.
While most consumers will neglect the cheaper base model ‘E’, it might find favour with the taxi-market and some customers who can do with just AC and power steering.
The Japanese carmaker seems to building its broken walls slowly and steadily. The Amaze has been a runaway success and it won’t be a surprise if the City rewrites the success story.
