Texting while driving is one thing you should be avoiding. It is not only dangerous for the car driver, but also for the pedestrians. Apple, wants to solve this crisis, and it has tried with its latest iOS update.
The world’s most valuable company has introduced a ‘Do Not Disturb While Driving’ (DNDWD) feature as a part of iOS 11 update. This update will go on iPhone, iPad and even the Car Play. Using the Bluetooth connectivity and nearby Wi-Fi networks, the system will determine if the car is in motion. If it is, the system will automatically blank out the smartphone’s screen and the owner won’t receive any notifications. This behaviour is applicable to CarPlay as well, but entertainment features like music will be accessible to the driver.
The driver will be able to answer the call only if the phone is connected via Bluetooth. This feature is applicable to the passengers in that car as well. However, they have the option of overriding that feature by simply clicking on an option which says ‘I’m not driving right now’. Of course, this option is obviously available to the driver as well. So there will be a lot of drivers who would definitely use this option, but we ask them to just to focus on the road and not on their phones.
