October will see the sale of a more powerful and quite crazy variant of the classic G-Wagon - the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 6X6. Now, making the tank an even more formidable six-wheeled force is a slight makeover by the US-based Texas Armoring Corporation. Texas Armoring, which specialises in designing and manufacturing armoured cars recently announced its plans to build a handful of Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6s with B6+ armour. It is a level of protection specified in the CEN ballistic guidelines (European Normalisation).
The G63 6X6 B6 will be able to tackle rugged terrain as well as the occasional burst of fire from an AK-47 or an M-16. And for those who like action MI style and live life among streaming bullets and bombs, the AMG 6X6 armoured version might just be your answer. The model is being marketed as being able to handle everything up to a 7.62x63mm round.
It has been further enhanced with the state-of-the-art power train taken from the new ML63 AMG. It goes from zero to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 210 kmph (electronically limited).
It’s big, imposing and quite fast but what else can you do to make it as exclusive as possible? If you have been following our stories on the G63 AMG 6X6, then you will know that the ‘standard’ car has been priced at 379, 000 Euros (Rs 3.2 Crore). This one will set you back a hefty 1.33 million USD (Rs 83,317,100 before taxes).
We feel that the directors of Fast and Furious should think of including these beauties in their next installment. Maybe a whole new movie based on off-roaders only.
However, the company has stopped accepting pre-orders for the vehicle. This means that those who can shell out for the SUV should keep their cheque books ready for next year.
