Hyundai motors has partnered with popular ecommerce portal Amazon to accept test drive bookings for the 2017 Hyundai Elantra. The project, currently in its test phase, is available only in LA and Orange County markets for now and based on its success might be introduced in other markets as well. The pilot program called ‘Prime Now. Drive Now.’ runs in two phases, the first one was held last weekend on August 20-21 and the next one will be held on August 27-28.
However, the online Elantra test drive booking option is not available in India for now, but then, given the growing popularity of this particular online portal, it is to be seen if the automaker will plan to accept new car bookings or test drive requests online. As for the current program in the international market, a company representative will be driving the vehicle to potential customers for a test drive. Customers can choose for a 45 to 60-minute test drive between 9am to 7pm. In recent times, car and bike manufacturers in the country have been considering the online options to further expand their sales channel.
Hyundai has launched the new Elantra in India at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The new premium sedan is available in S, SX, SX AT, SX (O) and SX (O) AT variants. The petrol Elantra variant is powered by a 2.0-litre engine which generates 152bhp of power and 190Nm of torque, while the diesel trim gets a 1.6-litre mill rated at 128bhp of power and 265Nm torque.
