Alpina has released a video of the new B7 being put through its paces on a racetrack. Alpina is a renowned tuner of BMW cars and the B7 is based on the new 7 Series that has recently started selling in Europe. The Alpina B7 will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show held in March.
While the M-division at BMW goes for outright speed, Alpina takes the luxury route to performance. The interiors are bespoke with high quality leathers and luxuries. The Alpinas get automatic transmission and loads of torque. The B7 will get the 4.4-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine that will develop over 600bhp of power and a tonne of torque.
The earlier B7 was a rear-wheel-drive and hit the 100kmph mark from zero in 4.2 seconds. With more power and torque and the probability of getting the BMW X-drive system, the new B7 can pretty well target the sub-four second dash to 100kmph.
Meanwhile, in India, we are yet to get the latest 7 Series from BMW which is expected to be around for the Auto Expo next month. There are absolutely no chances of the Alpina ever coming to India, unless of course, BMW takes the Mercedes route of bringing in all the global super-luxury products.
