Subaru has showcased the all-new Forester SUV at the New York International Auto Show. The fifth-generation of one of their highest selling products retains most its earlier elements, but with more power, tech and features.
While everyone thought that the fifth-gen Forester would take cues from the much-loved Viziv concepts, it seems that Subaru has decided not to tweak something that is already so popular. Instead, they have enhanced the design. Since the car is longer, thanks to the added wheelbase, you have more room in the car as well as in the boot. While the cabin also carries almost the same design as before, the infotainment system is all-new and gets all the latest features.
Under the hood, you have the 4-cylinder boxer unit that now displaces 2.5-litres and pumps out 180bhp of power and is offered only with a CVT gearbox. Of course, the all-wheel drive is standard but you will have to go to the higher trims to get paddle shifts. Sadly, we have nothing to worry here in India. Because the only time we got anywhere close to the Subaru Forester in India was when it was rebadged as a Chevrolet two generations ago!
