Come February 2019 and Mahindra will officially launch the all-new XUV300. We have known this model as the S201 all this while and now, the first pictures are out showing the exterior and interior design. Mahindra has also revealed some crucial details on this highly anticipated model. Here is everything we know so far about the all-new XUV300.
Based on a global platformÂ
The XUV300 shares its platform with the SsangYong Tivoli which is sold in multiple global markets. According to Mahindra, the Tivoli is among the safest SUVs in Korea, receiving a Grade 1 safety award from the 2015 Korean NCAP.Â
To be available with both petrol and diesel drivetrainÂ
As expected, the XUV300 will be offered with both petrol and diesel drivetrain options. It is likely to be offered with a 1.5-litre 100bhp diesel as well as a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine, thus taking on the likes of Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Segment-first featuresÂ
Besides the usual list of creature comforts, the XUV300 will be loaded with quite a few segment-first features. The top-spec variant, in fact, will get 7 airbags, a dual-zone climate control and disc brakes for all four wheels. The XUV300 will also come with 17-inch alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, electrically foldable mirrors and a comprehensive MID screen between the dials.Â
No automatic optionÂ
However, unlike the Nexon and the Vitara Brezza which can be had with an automatic option, the XUV300 will be available only as a manual. Mahindra has revealed that there will be no automatic option at the time of the launch.
Launch in first half of February 2019Â
Speaking of the launch, the XUV300 will be launched in the first half of February 2019. Given its long list of features including the segment-first bits, it is likely that the XUV300 will carry a slight premium over its rivals. That said, Mahindra is expected to keep the prices competitive with an aim to gain a sizeable amount of market share in the ever-growing compact SUV segment.Â
